We must stand our ground at this moment in time since the President and his base supporters continue to spew hateful rhetoric that divides our country. The need to honor and protect each person’s fundamental human worth has never been more urgent or important.

Moreover, the freedom to love whom we choose is not simply a matter of personal privacy but a declaration of our dignity as a free people. This is very personal to me since I serve as Delaware’s first out gay male State Senator. I understand the responsibility of visibility and I accept this role with conviction and compassion.

At every turn as your State Senator, I am working to:

• Support individuals with special needs, people whom too often are unseen and unheard.
• I led legislation to protect immunization coverage in Delaware, reaffirming that science is real and that vaccines are critical to safeguarding our communities, families, and our children despite the spread of harmful misinformation and untruths from the Trump Administration.
• Expand adoption and fostering children opportunities with the help of paid leave and child care assistance.
• Enable ‘second chances’ through expungement of criminal records.
• Ensure that our LGBTQ+ community is seen and protected from harassment, ridicule, and discrimination.
